Each one of the horses at our rescue, has a story to tell.... They have been through so much.... We are here to help them recover mentally and physically, and become healthy and happy again. Please take some time to get to know our rescued horses. Please consider a donation to help us provide for the needs of these horses in our care.

We have run into some problems with Nicholas. He is not taking to training well. He gets combative and becomes dangerous, striking and biting at the trainer with minimal pressure. Multiple attempts have proven to be a safety risk. We have turned Nicholas out to pasture to just be a horse and will revisit training at a later date, letting him grow up mentally.

Baby Nicholas.... A wonderful donor came to his rescue, as he was about to ship across the border. As soon as we saw this precious baby, he was paid for and picked up quickly. Nicholas is in quarantine with Tammy Martin, who is the closest to where Nicholas was, and an excellent quarantine provider. We are very excited for Nicholas to complete quarantine and come to live with the other weanlings here at the rescue. We will never be able to understand how people can throw away such precious little babies. Nicholas is only 6 months old, and almost met a horrific end. He is safe, he is loved, and he has a bright future ahead.

Emmett continues to do well. He may never be sound for riding and just be a pasture pet, but that is okay.....He has bonded very strongly with us and is such a joy.

Emmett continues to do well, enjoying his life here at the rescue as a very much loved sanctuary horse. He spends his days with Nicholas, BamBam, Tamsin and Misty playing in the pasture without a care in the world. We adore this wonderful boy.

Emmett is a special boy! Little Emmett was saved from the East Texas feedlot by Gayle Schneider and given to our rescue. We absolutely love the babies, and Emmett is one of the special ones. Emmett came to us frightened and unhandled, but has warmed up to us and become such a sweetheart! Emmett is best friends with little Beethoven, the two of them are inseparable. Both babies are the youngest of the group and spend their time in the barn at night and in our front yard where they can get frequent meals and Beethoven can be fed his milk replacer meals. Emmett comes to us when he sees us; it is so wonderful to experience how bonded he has become with us. In caring for these babies.....being their lifeline, they give us back so much in return....they are truly precious.

Legend is doing well. He is enjoying his leisure life here at our rescue. This beautiful boy has a big scar on his knee which is what likely landed him in a Colorado kill pen. He is very sensitive, flighty and needs to be handled by an expert handler only. Legend is going to be a permanent resident at our rescue, as finding a suitable home will be difficult for this special boy. He wants to stay wild, and wild is how he will remain. He needs a place where he can just be....here is where he will remain.

Legend has settled in reasonably well. He is still not wanting to be handled, but he is very focused on us and now approaches us and stares in our eyes. He is so close to deciding to let us start petting him. We are not rushing him, he came very nervous and has very fast reflexes with big reactions. We are in no hurry, Legend can take all the time he needs. We want him to gain some confidence and overcome the fear before beginning training.
We found this stunning boy at Fabrizius feedlot in CO. He was scheduled to ship in 3 days. For some reason, we really had a pull to save this one. We do not bail from out of state because of the difficulty arranging transportation and the added expense of it, but this boy was really on our minds. Thanks to many wonderful donors, we were able to bail this beautiful boy and get him transported back to Texas to our trusted quarantine provider, Melanie Witherspoon. Thank God we bailed him quickly and had him picked up right away, because he had lost a couple hundred pounds since the video and pictures were taken of him when he came to Fabrizius. We were shocked and saddened to see how skinny he had become, clearly he had not eaten! Our wonderful friend and colleague Sean Wright, braved the terrible weather, single digit temperatures and black ice and snow to go get this boy and bring him back to Texas.
Legend experienced choke on his first day at quarantine which required the veterinarian. We had 3 days of worry, with some pretty unnerving episodes of repeat choke and breathing difficulty. Legend needed to see the vet daily for 4 days and then finally began improving. He is eating free choice complete feed only, to prevent him from further choke episodes and help his esophagus to heal. Legend did swell up and abscess from Strangles this week, and now that the swollen lymph nodes are draining, he is starting to look more alert. We are still considering his condition to be guarded, but we are optimistic that he is a fighter and will pull through. He will require another month in quarantine, along with the pricey, highly recommended complete feed he requires to help him regain weight while his digestive tract and organs are not functioning well. We look forward to meeting this beautiful wild boy when he gets well and can come to the rescue.
