We saw little Tinkerbell and her mom Wendy in a group of horses after they unloaded from a kill buyer's trailer. They were frightened, and so much smaller than the full sized horses. Little Tinkerbell looked to be less than a month old and she was getting slammed around by the bigger horses as they ran into her. We were horrified to see this, after watching a foal be trampled in that very same kill pen with the same scenario. We acted quickly with a promise to pay that day and asked the kill buyer to please move them to safety before baby Tinkerbell was trampled. Thankfully the kill buyer moved momma and baby to a private location as they awaited Melanie Witherspoon to come get them that night and take them to her safe, warm quarantine facility. The weather was turning cold that night with rain and there was no shelter to protect baby Tinkerbell. Melanie was wonderful, she arranged to go get them as soon as we had them paid. They are safe in quarantine and under the care of a veterinarian for contracting the kill pen crud. They are receiving daily antibiotics and improving! We can't wait to meet this precious little family when they finish with their quarantine stay.
Tinkerbell has been a favorite of many, every since she arrived at the rescue. Getting to enjoy Tinkerbell growing up has brought us so much joy! She was the most precious baby! Tinkerbell's best friend is Iris. When Tinkerbell met Iris, she stared at her as if she was looking in the mirror. They became instant friends. Tinkerbell's best friends are Iris, Milo and Freesia. She enjoys her life here at the rescue and brings us smiles daily.
We are happy to announce that Wendy has been adopted with Tulip and Heather by a wonderful woman named Betty who is giving them a life of love and leisure in their new forever home.
