Baby Tam was spotted by Marcia when she entered the sale ring at Elkhart auction. One look at this precious tiny baby and the sound of her frightened little whinny, made Marcia buy the tiny baby. Baby Tam was only 2 weeks old, when some heartless person brought her to the Elkhart auction alone to be sold. Marcia had her picked up right away and brought to a quarantine provider, but after 4 days Marcia chose to bring this little baby home, risking sickness to the healthy horses, to help this baby's odds of survival. Thankfully Tam did not get sick. A nursing mare Marcia owned, was convinced to nurse baby Tam as well as her own baby. Every 2 hours Tam was taken to the mare to nurse. We do feel that Tam would not have survived, being only 2 weeks old, without being able to nurse a mare. We also gave Tam milk replacer and probiotics to help her. This little girl was friendly from the moment she arrived, and has been a joy to share our home with. She has turned out to be a cute little Welsh pony, with a personality as big as a Percheron. We adore this little gift from God, Baby Tam will remain with us at PRRHR&S.
Bam - Bam
BAM-BAM!
We saw baby Bam-Bam at Kaufman kill pen but did not get the opportunity to bail him. He was bailed by another person with his mother.. Something went awry and several of the horses that were bailed by someone else, were left there at Kaufman, including Bam-Bam and his mom. When we found out Bam and his mom were left behind, we worked to acquire them both. Bam has the neatest personality - always in my pocket, comes to me as soon as he sees me and loves people. He is also a troublemaker, getting into things, which is most of the time funny! Bam became instant best friends with Baby Tam, the two of them are so fun to watch when they play. Bam-Bam gets to stay with us too.
Misty
Misty
Tiny little Misty was seen in a mob of weanlings, yearlings and 2 year olds in a northern Oklahoma feedlot. in January 2019. This little girl's mother sadly was shipped to slaughter, along with the mothers of the other babies. Misty was the smallest by far, of all the babies. Our vet reported her to be just 2 months old when he first examined her. Misty was being picked on by the other horses and we separated her out to be with our little colt. Misty took a while to start thriving, her little body had to get over sickness and she had to adjust to milk replacer. Misty has become best friends with our home grown filly born last year and is watched over by my older gelding who is a babysitter. She gets to stay with us here at PRRHR&S.
TASHA
Tasha came to us as an owner surrender, she was no longer wanted. She is very shy and worried about people hurting her. Once we touch her she gives a big sigh and lets us groom her and love on her. Tasha is a 15 year old Shetland pony who needed us to offer her sanctuary. She has an old injury which gives her a hitch in her giddy-up.
